19th Annotation

A Retreat in Daily Life

The 19th Annotation is a version of the Spiritual Exercises of St. Ignatius Loyola adapted for people who cannot take 30 days off for a traditional retreat. it is a program of prayer, meditation, and reflection conducted in your normal life circumstances.

  • Daily prayer: Approximately one hour per day of personal prayer and reflection.

  • Journaling: Spending a short time reflecting on the prayer experience and writing down insights.

  • Spiritual director: Meeting with a spiritual guide, usually weekly or biweekly, to discuss your prayer experiences and receive guidance.

  • Duration: Typically lasts for 9 to 12 months, though the exact length can vary based on your schedule and needs. 

  • Goal: To help you grow in your relationship with God and become more aware of God's presence in your everyday life. 

  • Process: You will be guided through Principle & Foundation followed by the "weeks" of contemplation, focusing on different aspects of the Exercises and the life of Jesus. 

  • Personal experience: The experience is unique to each individual, designed to build a deep personal relationship with God.
